How do I choose a union?

You'll find a list of all the unions that are affiliated to the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in our Useful links section.

It's sensible to join a union that your employer already formally recognises, or - if there's no recognition agreement - to join one that has other members already working for your employer, by contacting your local representative or shop steward.

You can use the TUC's Worksmart website to find out whether your employer recognises unions by searching for it by name or by the sector in which you work.
